Brooklyn Mangrove Boardwalk

Our public space projects often address ecological and environmental themes. For Brooklyn, north of Sydney, we designed, illustrated and produced free-standing and cantilevered interpretive and orientation signage to highlight the importance of mangroves and their biodiversity in the Hawkesbury River estuary, one of Australia’s densest mangrove regions.

Apart from being home to a huge variety of native marine and birdlife, mangroves protect against erosion, support diverse wildlife, and filter carbon twice as efficiently as terrestrial forests.

Collaborating with Hornsby Shire Council environmental scientists, we illustrated significant local flora, fauna to convey a deeper understanding of the mangrove ecosystem. Signage was integrated seamlessly with the existing boardwalk using minimally invasive installation methods.

With a focus on realism and narrative depth, our in-house artistic expertise brought these signs to life. The result is a visually compelling, educational addition to this popular walkway.

It was hugely rewarding to receive immediate positive reaction from passers-by as the signs went in. A sincere thank you to local resident Venette F., who got in touch to convey this generous feedback:

‘You have done an amazing job Paul. It is such a privilege to be able to take this walk with the family regularly as it is virtually on my doorstep. Thank you for your contribution to our beautiful Bushland Shire.’
